Today we started going to the hills of Galilee. The sea of Galilee is about 600 ft below sea level because to the elevation sound engineers confirm that your voice will carry upward thus making it easy to preach to 5000 people if you are in a valley. The acoustics of this place are great. It was here where Jesus preached and showed many miracles. The walking on the water, feeding the 5000, and The Sermon of the Mount all took place here. This is where Peter lived and Jesus stayed many times. There is a church here off the shore where many believe the house of Peter rested.
We also stopped at the Jordan River where some baptisms were taking place. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordan_River
Next stop was Nazareth in this modern town they have set some land aside to make a mock up of what life would have been like. They have replicated a vineyard, synagogue, wine and olive oil press, and a carpenter shop.
We ate lunch at a local shop where they served Peter's fish. This picture shows the typical fish that is found in the lake. It was good fish !
